Some movies are never boring even if you watch them again and again. In fact, every time those bring a new element of entertainment. That is the beauty of these movies. The festival will run for a month. Hence, effectively we have five Sundays of full entertainment and remembering the legendary filmmaker who has a record of hit movies on the big screen. He is the father of director and producer Mansoor Khan.

Nasir Hussain

Nasir Khan is the uncle of Aamir Khan, one of the best actors of Bollywood. He was a producer and director but also a writer of many movies scripts. He had his own level of excellence in every field of his work. It is a great move by Zee Classic with its proposition Woh Zaman Kare Deewana to commemorate his unforgettable contribution Indian Cinema. Thus starting this Sunday, January 7th, the festival starts showcasing his top hits like Yaadon Ki Baarat, Teesri Manzil, Hum Kisise Kam Naheen, Zamaane Ko Dikhana Hai, Manzil Manzil, and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak every Sunday at 12 noon. All these movies are my favorite. Every movie is unique in its entertaining spectrum and has a different set of actors. Getting the best out of any actor was probably the best part of this great director. That, in fact, creates a big difference in creativity.

Nasir Hussain was a Legend in Direction and Writing

Nasir Hussain was born in 1926. His family was not liberal. In fact, it was quite a conservative family. But contrarily, right from the beginning he had a natural bend towards movies and theatre. On the other hand, his father was a history teacher and was quite apprehensive of his son's fast growing passion. But it was like nothing could stop Nasir for following his heart. That is why while pursuing his BA in Lucknow, he became quite active in the field. Writing short plays for radio and playing minor roles was the beginning of shaping his passion into reality. Sashadhar Mukherjee, film producer was the first to notice an extraordinary talent in Nasir Hussain's writing and thus signed him for his Filmistan Studios in 1948. And after that, there was no looking back for Nasir. With the inspiration from the same producer, Nasir became a director.

That was the beginning of Nasir Hussain debuting as a director of Tumsa Nahin Dekha casting Shammi Kapoor in 1957. There is a famous anecdote in this regard. In fact, his first choice for the main role was Dev Anand and not Shammi Kapoor. But since the former didn't accept the offer, his mentor and producer Sashadhar suggested him to take Shammi Kapoor. While Hussain was hesitating to give it to Shammi Kappor, the latter was also not willing to accept the role. But the same movie became a big hit at box office and thus making both the director and actor successful in their respective fields. Rather after that both had a very successful career because of this. As a matter of fact, Nasir Hussain is also the man of firsts. He was the first to create Bollywood's first Masala movie Teesri Manzil in 1966.

Again, Nasir Hussain was the first to launch musical romance with Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak with Aamir Khan and Juhir Chawla. To pay a tribute to his great work, Zee Classic is celebrating this month long festival that is exclusive and unique. Great writer Salim Khan, who was a contributor to the story of the movie Teesri Manzil says, “Nasir Hussain was the individual who gave romantic heroes a comic twist.” Romance, story, and music were the three key elements of all his movies. In fact, he had an art of fetching the best from the music composers he worked with. Look at the fantastic musical results from OP Nayyar for movies like Tumsa Nahin Dekha and Phir Wohi Dil Laya Hoon. Similarly, duo Shankar-Jaikishen for Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai. Or Usha Khanna for Dil Deke Dekho. And RD Burman doing all his movies following Teesri Manzil (1966).

As a matter of fact, the trio of Nasir Hussain, RD Burman, and Majrooh Sultanpuri was the one to create a musical history with the movies like Teesri Manzil, Pyar Ka Mausam, Yaadon Ki Baarat, Zamane Ko Dikhana Hai, Baharon Ke Sapne, Caravan, Hum Kisise Kum Naheen, etc. Look at the songs like O Mere Sona Re, O Haseena Zulfon Wali, Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko, Aye Mere Humsafar, and Papa Kehte Hain. In fact, the list is endless and so are the word to write about the work of Nasir Hussain. During this festival by Zee Classic, you will also get to know the views of Bollywood legends like Salim Khan, Juhi Chawla, Prem Chopra, Javed Akhtar, Dalip Tahil, Ayesha Julka, Lalit Pandit, and others.
